During the Sea festival, even before the sun rises, a procession goes on the Chigasaki beach to thank gods of their greatness. Thirty « mikoshi », shinto altars, are carried to the beach, parading for hours before being blessed by priests. It takes more than 50 people, relaying, to lift and carry each « mikoshi, » which can weight more than a ton. During this festival, all ages and categories of the population are represented, Gods accepting worshipers of all social origins...
